About the Editor Richard has been working on independent documentaries since he moved from London to New York in 1990. Among others he edited the POV headliner "SA-I-GU" in 1992, and "An Abandoned People: The Sakhalin Koreans", a PBS special, in 1994, for director Dai Sil Kim Gibson. In 1996 he was nominated for an Academy Award® for the short film "Jim Dine: A Self-Portrait on the Walls", and in 1998 he produced its award-winning sequel "All About Looking". Since moving to northern California in 1999 Richard produced and directed the historical documentary "Rules of Respect: The Flag and the First Amendment" chronicling the eccentric traditions of the American "flag protection" movement; he ran a photography business with his wife Caitlin; wrote and did research for a spurious lobbying outfit in Sausalito, CA; and in 2006 was busy plotting the grand opening of his shop before his providential encounter with maverick director Dieter Weihl. |
