About the Editor

Richard Stilwell is the co-owner of Perdita Productions based in Geyserville, California, about 80 miles north of San Francisco.  He runs a small print gallery and production office at the intersection of Geyserville Avenue and Hwy 128.

Richard has been working on independent documentaries since he moved from London to New York in 1990.  Among others he edited the POV headliner  "SA-I-GU" in 1992, and "An Abandoned People:  The Sakhalin Koreans", a PBS special, in 1994, for director Dai Sil Kim Gibson.  In 1996 he was nominated for an Academy Award® for the short film "Jim Dine:  A Self-Portrait on the Walls", and in 1998 he produced its award-winning sequel "All About Looking".

Since moving to northern California in 1999 Richard produced and directed the historical documentary "Rules of Respect:  The Flag and the First Amendment" chronicling the eccentric traditions of the American "flag protection" movement; he ran a photography business with his wife Caitlin; wrote and did research for a spurious lobbying outfit in Sausalito, CA; and in 2006 was busy plotting the grand opening of his shop before his providential encounter with maverick director Dieter Weihl.
